The **City of Norman** through its **Norman Municipal Authority** is the primary government authority overseeing the Norman Solar Initiative.  This initiative is a priority for the City due to its commitment to sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and the desire to enhance the community's resilience and self-sufficiency in energy production.

By encouraging the adoption of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, the City of Norman aims to lower energy bills for its residents and businesses, contribute to enhanced grid resiliency through distributed energy generation, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Initiative represents a strategic effort to address concerns related to the adoption of solar energy, including cost barriers and a lack of knowledge among the public, making it a cornerstone in Norman's approach to fostering a sustainable and energy-independent community.
